Red Light Therapy · Platinum Membership

Light your cells can actually use.

A full-body LED Red Light Therapy bed built with 32 dual-wavelength LED lamps: 660 nm red and 835 nm near-infrared. Zero UV. No tan, no burn. Just the two wavelengths the research keeps coming back to.

What's inside the bed

The actual lamps we installed.

In fall 2025 SFF converted a full-body bed to all-LED Red Light Therapy. These are the real numbers, not a brochure.

32Full-LED dual-wavelength lamps for whole-body coverage
660nmVisible deep red, absorbed in the skin
835nmNear-infrared, invisible, reaches deeper into muscle
0Ultraviolet. These lamps produce no UV at all, so there's no tan and no sunburn
660 nm · Red

The skin wavelength

Visible deep red. Most of it is absorbed in the first few millimeters, where your skin's collagen-making cells (fibroblasts) live. This is the wavelength behind most of the skin research.

835 nm · Near-infrared

The deep wavelength

Invisible to your eye (you may feel gentle warmth). Near-infrared travels farther through tissue than red, toward muscle and the areas around joints. This range is the focus of most of the recovery and soreness research.

All the way down

What happens inside the cell.

The science name is photobiomodulation. Here is the chain of events, from the bed to your mitochondria.

  1. Light goes in

Red and near-infrared sit in the "optical window": wavelengths that pass through skin instead of bouncing off or being swallowed by water and blood.

  2. The mitochondria catch it

Inside nearly every cell, mitochondria make your energy. One of their enzymes, cytochrome c oxidase (the last step of the energy chain), absorbs light in exactly these red and near-infrared bands.

  3. The brake comes off

Stressed or tired cells build up nitric oxide that sits on that enzyme and slows it down. The leading explanation is that light knocks it loose, so oxygen gets used efficiently again.

  4. More ATP

With the enzyme running freely, mitochondria produce more ATP, the energy currency every repair job in the body runs on.

  5. Repair signals switch on

A brief, small burst of signaling molecules tells the cell to turn on repair and protection genes, and the released nitric oxide helps local blood flow.

More is not better. Light therapy follows a "biphasic dose response": a moderate dose helps, and much longer exposure can cancel the benefit. That's why sessions are timed, and why consistency beats marathon sessions.

What the research shows

Why members use it.

Honest summaries of the published research, not miracle claims. Results vary from person to person.

Skin

Collagen & texture

In a controlled trial using full-body red and near-infrared units, much like this bed, participants showed improved skin feel, fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and higher collagen density on ultrasound compared with controls.

Training

Recovery & soreness

A meta-analysis of studies on light therapy around exercise found improved performance and less post-exercise muscle damage and soreness, especially when light was applied before training.

Leal-Junior et al., 2015
Body

Inflammation & aches

Reviews of the research describe reduced markers of inflammation and use for temporary relief of minor muscle and joint aches. It supports recovery; it doesn't replace medical care.

Feel

A real recovery ritual

Warm, quiet, and done lying down. Pair it with the sauna (every membership) for a full recovery routine after hard training.

SFF
Safety

No UV, no tan

Because these lamps emit zero ultraviolet, red light doesn't tan or burn. Want UV and red light together? That's the Solar Force 652V Combo (VIP).

Using it well

Your first sessions.

Do

  • Start with clean skin: no lotion, makeup or sunscreen, which can block light.
  • Wear the protective eyewear provided. The light is very bright.
  • Be consistent. Several sessions a week beats one long session.
  • Let the front desk set your session time.
  • Use it before training if recovery is your goal, after if you're just winding down.

Check with your doctor first if you

  • Are pregnant
  • Take medication that makes you sensitive to light (some antibiotics, acne medications and others)
  • Have a light-sensitive condition or seizures triggered by light
  • Have, or are being treated for, cancer
Questions

Straight answers.

Will it tan me?

No. The lamps produce zero UV. If you want a tan with red light, that's the Solar Force 652V Combo with VIP.

Does it feel hot?

You'll feel gentle warmth, mostly from the near-infrared. It's nothing like a sauna or a UV bed.

Why 660 and 835?

They line up with the absorption bands of cytochrome c oxidase, the light-absorbing enzyme in your mitochondria, and they cover both shallow (skin) and deeper (muscle) tissue.

How soon will I notice anything?

It varies. Many people say they feel relaxed right away; the skin studies measured changes over weeks of regular sessions.

Who can use it?
